Team Building Adventure

New Hope, PA

SCROLL DOWN TO START YOUR ADVENTURE

This adventure challenge is designed to bring your squad closer together and get you to explore the surrounding area while having fun and staying safe. Please follow all local and state laws and be respectful of anyone or any business you interact with along the way.

Here Are The Rules

1. Read each challenge carefully and click on any provided links to view helpful pictures, videos, and requirements for each challenge.

2. Complete as many challenges as you can within the given time frame. Challenges can be completed in any order. Challenges are often designed to bring you together through fun, difficult, meaningful, or embarrassing experiences, so complete whatever challenges you and your group are comfortable with. Just be sure to create some unforgettable moments and content that your group will cherish forever!

3. Capture as many team members in your picture or video as possible. When out in the community, teams often ask a kind stranger to take their picture or video so that the entire team can get on film. If it's necessary to have someone on your own team film certain challenges be sure to rotate who that person is so that everyone is actively involved in completing challenges throughout the adventure.

4. Team members need to stay together throughout the adventure, however, if you are all at the same location and searching for an item you can spread out until it is found and then regroup to take the necessary picture/video.

5. Some challenges may require a few basic supplies to complete them. Figuring out how to obtain these supplies somewhere in the area is part of the strategy so work together and use what you’ve got to get what you need.

6. After completing each challenge click the “Connection Question”. In order for a challenge to be considered officially completed have at least one team member answer the question while you’re at the challenge location, or as you travel together to your next location. The more team members that talk about their answer, the more connected you’ll become. If you choose to just have one person answer per question create a rotation of who answers next so that everyone is sharing equally.

CHALLENGES

#1: Most people take time in June to honor the dads in their lives. But at J&J that happens year-round, and being named a 2022 Top Company For Dads is proof of that. Even part of the first line of the credo states “We believe our first responsibility is to mothers and fathers”. To honor the support this company provides to dads and families, take a video of your team members hugging or high-fiving any male who is pushing a stroller around town as you give him words of encouragement such as "we believe in you", "you're awesome", "you're doing a great job", etc. Make sure your video shows the stroller at some point, although the child doesn’t need to be recorded.

Connection Question For Challenge #1

#2: Your adventure today is taking place in one of the most popular and historic places in Bucks County. But did you know, the current name came into use following a fire in 1790 that destroyed several mills in the area? The reconstruction was considered a "new hope”. To honor the brave firefighters that have protected this city over the years, and protect it currently, take a video of your team completing "Stop, Drop, and Roll" while any regulation/operable fire extinguisher is visible in the background. Be sure to yell each step of the fire safety technique as you all do it together and make sure the fire extinguisher is clearly visible at some point in your video.

Connection Question For Challenge #2

#3: Johnson & Johnson’s dedication to improving outcomes for those suffering from mental illness began in the 1950s, when Dr. Paul Janssen's research led to a revolutionary breakthrough treatment for schizophrenia. In a recent J&J article about the best ways to manage stress so it doesn’t harm your mental health, one recommended strategy was “exercise, deep breathing, and hanging out with friends”. To do all of these things at once, get your team to the small grassy area next to the Bucks County Playhouse (see a picture HERE). Once there, a yoga and meditation expert will lead your team through a short mindfulness routine while overlooking the river. Once finished, have someone take a picture of your team while you all strike your favorite yoga poses.

Connection Question For Challenge #3

#4: With over 100 historic buildings in this town, finding a specific one might be tough. Get your team somewhere out front of the building seen HERE, which was reportedly a hiding place for one of America’s most controversial founding fathers. Once there, form a circle and have all of your team members compete together in one big Rock, Paper, Scissors duel. Basically, have everyone throw their chosen symbol at the same time. If rock, paper, and scissors are all thrown, it is a stalemate, and you all rethrow. If only two symbols are thrown, all players with the losing symbol are eliminated. Play continues until only the winner remains. Once a champion has been declared have them grab the nearby crown and place it on their head. Then take a fun team picture with the champion flashing their winning symbol and everyone else looking defeated.

Connection Question For Challenge #4

#5: June is National Cancer Survivors Month. At Johnson & Johnson teams work every day to get in front of cancer, convening the brightest minds to create, nurture and deliver new approaches to detect, intercept and one day cure this disease. To honor those, and their families, who are impacted by cancer, get your team to Nurture Spa (31 West Ferry Street) and take a proud team picture flashing your hands once every member of your team has gotten their fingernails painted purple (the color for cancer survivors) using real nail polish. For every team that completes this challenge successfully our company (Team Building Anywhere) will be donating $25 to Fox Chase Cancer Center. Read more about the work they’re doing by clicking HERE.

Connection Question For Challenge #5

#6: This weekend is July 1st, and the beginning of the hottest month here in Pennsylvania. Although, it probably won’t feel as hot as your mouth after this challenge. Anywhere around the area, take a video of your team members all at the same time consuming separate spoonfuls of any brand of hot sauce (the hotter the better). Make sure to show the bottle or packet of hot sauce in the video so it can be confirmed that it's actually hot sauce you're consuming. Disclaimer, this will likely not be pleasant, which is exactly the point. Because a team that suffers together, grows together.

Connection Question For Challenge #6

#7: Please note this challenge location opens at 10:30am. People living in the Philadelphia area love us some pretzels. How much? We eat 12 times as many as anybody else in America, and we make 80 percent of the nation’s supply. So identifying that familiar smell shouldn’t be too difficult for your team. Get to Wax N Scent Studio (15 North Main Street) and compete in the Blind Smell Test Challenge. As a team work together to identify the “Philly Pretzel” scent among 5 total unlabeled scents. If you don’t get it correct on your 1st try, you’ll have one more chance to get it correct or else the challenge becomes locked and you’ll submit a team picture holding your noses in defeat.

Connection Question For Challenge #7

#8: Search the area for a Dahlgren Smoothbore (hint, it’s not a type of car or a dog). Once you’ve found one, designate one of your team members to be your “injured soldier”. Then take a picture with the Dahlgren in the background, while demonstrating the “correct way to carry an injured soldier”, as referenced in the picture found HERE by soldiers from the 1800’s. If you have a lot of people on your team you can divide up and carry multiple “victims” if you want. Or if you have a small team you can recruit strangers to help out with the lifting if needed.

Connection Question For Challenge #8

#9: With iconic brands in skin health, self care and essential health, Johnson & Johnson products not only help people live healthier lives, but make them feel more beautiful. To celebrate this, get your team to the New Hope Ferry Market and complete the “Beautiful Person Challenge”. Upon arriving, approach people in the establishment and tell them “we think you are beautiful”. Make sure to say it with sincerity but continue moving throughout the space, approaching strangers, employees, or anyone you think should know just how beautiful they are. You are searching for a secret under cover agent (the “Beautiful Person”) and once you tell them they are beautiful they will respond with a secret code. The code is the three 2023 priorities according to Ajit. Once you’ve found them, celebrate and take a beautiful team picture with the secret person for verification. Here’s a hint, the Beautiful Person loves wearing something that matches the color in the J&J logo.

Connection Question For Challenge #9

#10: Get to any clothing or apparel store and find two different items with enough in stock that every team member can be wearing the same two items in their own sizes. Then take a fun team picture with everyone wearing those items. For example it may be a wacky shirt, and a pair of shorts. Or maybe some cozy slippers and a large sun hat. As long as everyone is wearing the same exact two items but in their own sizes.

Connection Question For Challenge #10

#11: Johnson & Johnson products, services and ideas now touch the lives of at least one billion people every day. This can only be achieved by listening to the people you provide products and services for and understanding the stories that make them who they are. Take a video of your team and any stranger that has a tattoo while they explain what that tattoo means to them or why they got it. The tattoo must be visible at some point during the video.

Connection Question For Challenge #11

#12: Johnson & Johnson is committed to ensuring the ethical treatment of animals involved in biomedical research to advance patient safety and well-being. Since the mid-1980s, Johnson & Johnson has promoted an annual 3Rs Award, intended to recognize employees who have made significant contributions of exemplifying the 3R Principles (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) in research and industry practices. To celebrate this commitment, get your team to Pet Photos Plus (13 North Main Street) and have Judy perform a fun photoshoot of your “family” while each of you holds one of the unusual “pets” that are waiting to be loved. Don’t worry these pets don’t bite or drool, or even breath for that matter.

Connection Question For Challenge #12

#13: Located somewhere around town is the same type of object that was featured on the cover of the second studio album by British-Irish boy band One Direction. Once you figure it out, find the one located around this area and take a fun team picture with it while everyone on your team is stuffed inside (if possible). Amazingly this one actually works, as long as you’ve got 50 cents.

Connection Question For Challenge #13

#14: Anywhere around the area find an active military person or a veteran. They could be wearing some form of military or veteran attire, have a military ID, or they could simply describe their military background while you’re completing your challenge. Then take a video of them watching your entire team doing 10 push-ups, sit-ups, or jumping jacks to honor their strength and courage. After you’ve finished recording, spend a few minutes learning more about their time in the service as a small gesture of appreciation.

Connection Question For Challenge #14

#15: Today is “National Day Of Joy”, which originally started when caregivers for seniors realized how important it is for the older population to be joyful. Find a postcard that features this area in some way, or a fun greeting card, and purchase it. Then click HERE to go to the Love For Our Elders project, which is focused on fighting loneliness with love, one letter at a time. As a team, choose someone from their list whose story or background resonates with you. Then on your card include a fun or uplifting message and sign it. Stamp your card and take a picture with it to show you've completed your Act Of Kindness and then drop it in the mail along the way or after your event ends.
