Team Building Adventure

Raleigh, NC

SCROLL DOWN TO START YOUR ADVENTURE

Here Are The Rules

  1. Complete as many challenges as you can within the given time frame. Challenges can be completed in any order.

  2. Please note any challenges that are labeled “required” or have a designated time your team needs to arrive, and plan accordingly.

  3. Team members need to stay together throughout the adventure, however, if you are all at the same location and searching for something you can spread out until it is found.

  4. Some challenges may require a few basic supplies to complete them. Figuring out how to obtain these supplies somewhere in the area is part of the experience.

  5. After completing each challenge click the “Connection Question”. Have at least one team member answer the question while you’re at the challenge location, or as you travel together to your next location. These answers don’t need to be submitted, they are simply meant to spark meaningful conversations within your own team. The more team members that talk about their answer, the more connected you’ll become. If you choose to just have one person answer per question create a rotation of who answers next so that everyone is sharing equally.

CHALLENGES

#1: As a dental team, there is great joy in seeing a big mouth full of strong teeth! So get your team to the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, a free museum that entertains and educates nearly a million visitors per year. Once inside, find the mouth of the "Megatooth Shark" (a 42 foot ancestor of the Great White). Then take a fun picture with it while everyone on your team is showing off their own ferocious teeth as well.

Connection Question For Challenge #1

#2: Today is National Navy Day. Anywhere around the area find an active military person or a veteran of any era or military branch. Then take a video of them watching your entire team doing 10 push-ups, sit-ups or jumping jacks at their feet to honor their strength and courage. After you’ve finished recording, spend a few minutes learning more about their time in the service before you depart, as a small gesture of appreciation.

Connection Question For Challenge #2

#3: October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To honor those, and their families, who are impacted by this disease, take a proud team picture showing off your hands once every member of your team has gotten their fingernails painted bright pink (the international color for breast cancer awareness) using real nail polish. For every team that completes this challenge successfully and emails us the photo proof, our company (Team Building Anywhere) will be donating $25 to help fight Breast Cancer!

Connection Question For Challenge #3

#4: One of the core values of Kids Dental Brands is being a Team Player, by putting the team above yourself and understanding you are valued as individuals but you’ll achieve the greatest results and enjoyment by working together as a team. To honor this value, find any location around the city where the state flag of North Carolina is visibly flying. Once there, take a video of your team completing the Group Sit & Stand Challenge while the flag is in the background. Basically, your team members will all be standing shoulder to shoulder in a tight clump/circle with your backs all facing in and your arms interlocked. Slowly lower the entire interlocked group to the ground until you are in a seated position with your butts on the ground, and then slowly stand all the way back up while remaining interlocked the entire time. To watch a video of a group successfully completing this challenge click HERE.

Connection Question For Challenge #4

#5: Find any two youth (or more) around the area and take a video of them teaching your team members how to “Floss”. And no, it has nothing to do with your teeth (but they will show you what to do with your arms and your hips).

Connection Question For Challenge #5

#6: Take a video of any ONE team member successfully completing the Oreo Face Challenge. Place an Oreo (or any other type of similarly sized cookie) on your forehead and using only your facial muscles and gravity attempt to move the cookie down your face and into your mouth without grabbing it with your hand or having it fall off. If it falls off place the cookie back on your forehead and try again. All team members can be attempting the challenge but only one needs to successfully complete it. To watch a video of someone completing this challenge successfully click HERE.

Connection Question For Challenge #6

#7: Raleigh is nicknamed the “City of Oaks” for its sheer number of majestic oak trees which line the streets. Preserving this beautiful landscape for your young patients and future generations is incredibly important. So anywhere around the area find a canister of some sort that has the triangular recycling symbol on it. You are looking for an actual recycling disposal can, where someone would get rid of recyclable materials, and not just any product that has the recycling symbol on it such as a plastic bottle. Once you’ve found one, take a picture of your entire team all completing any variation of the "Tree Pose" while the canister with the recycling symbol on it is clearly visible in the background. To view a picture of someone properly performing a variation of the Tree Pose click HERE.

Connection Question For Challenge #7

#8: Since next week is Halloween, this challenge will get your team into the spirit. Wrap any one member of your team from head to toe in toilet paper (or multiple team members if they want to get in on the fun) leaving as few gaps as possible except around their nose/mouth so they can breathe easily. Then take a fun team picture with your new "mummy” co-worker!

Connection Question For Challenge #8

#9: Create a “connection chain” using every member of your team. Click HERE to see an example of how to create one, and then take a video once everyone is lined up and explain how you are connected to the person next to you. Work hard to discover creative and meaningful connections with one another, not just something generic such as “we each breath air”.

Connection Question For Challenge #9

#10: Find someone 80 years old or older around the area. Take some time to chat with them, listen to a story they may have about the local area, or just ask them about their life. Then at some point tell them you work to give people beautiful smiles and take a video asking them the question “What moment in your life made you smile the most?”.

Connection Question For Challenge #10

#11: Anywhere around the area, take a video of your team members all at the same time consuming separate spoonfuls of any brand of hot sauce (the hotter the better). Make sure to show the bottle or packet of hot sauce in the video so it can be confirmed that it's actually hot sauce you're consuming. Disclaimer, this will likely not be pleasant, which is exactly the point. Because a team that suffers together, grows together.

Connection Question For Challenge #11

#12: A core value of Kids Dental Brands is being talented, skilled, and striving to achieve goals with a focus on continuous improvement. So this challenge will test just how focused you are! Click HERE to get to the brain puzzles and then select “Memory”. Then, anywhere along the way have at least two team members achieve a score of 50 or more points. Once you have your two super focused teammates, take a celebratory picture of them while they’re displaying their phone screens and the point totals are clearly visible. You can also take a second close-up picture of the two devices to clearly show the point totals if necessary (for bragging rights amongst the other teams, of course).

Connection Question For Challenge #12

#13: The Raleigh Fire Department, which was formed over 100 years ago, serves over 460,000 people spanning an area of 145 square miles. To honor the brave firefighters that protect this city, take a video of your team completing "Stop, Drop, and Roll" while any regulation/operable fire extinguisher is visible in the background, or you are standing in front of an actual fire station. Be sure to yell each step of the fire safety technique as you all do it together and make sure the fire extinguisher or fire station is clearly visible at some point in your video.

Connection Question For Challenge #13

#14: Some of the core values at Kids Dental Brands include showing kindness, warmth, and seeking to understand another's perspective. These values can only be achieved by listening to the people you provide service for and understanding the stories that make them who they are. Take a video of your team and any stranger that has a tattoo while they explain what that tattoo means to them or why they got it. The tattoo must be visible at some point during the video.

Connection Question For Challenge #14

#15: A core value of Kids Dental Brands is being compassionate, by showing kindness, warmth, and a willingness to help others. Find a postcard that features this area in some way, or a fun greeting card, and purchase it. Then click HERE to go to the Love For Our Elders project, which is focused on fighting loneliness with love, one letter at a time. As a team, choose someone from their list whose story or background resonates with you. Then on your card include a fun or uplifting message and sign it. Stamp your card and take a picture with it to show you've completed your Act Of Kindness and then drop it in the mail along the way or after your event ends.
