Here Are The Rules

Read each challenge carefully and click on any provided links to view helpful pictures, videos, and requirements for each challenge.

Complete as many challenges as you can in the given time frame. Challenges can be completed in any order. Challenges are often designed to bring you together through fun, difficult, or embarrassing experiences, so complete whatever challenges you and your group are comfortable with. Just be sure to create some unforgettable moments and content that your group will cherish forever!

Some challenges may require a few basic supplies to complete them. Figuring out how to obtain these supplies somewhere in the area is part of the strategy so work together and use what you’ve got to get what you need.

Team members need to stay together throughout the adventure, however, if you are all at the same location and searching for an item you can spread out until it is found and then regroup to take the necessary picture/video.

Capture as many team members in your picture or video as possible. When out in the community, teams often ask a kind stranger to take their picture or video so that the entire team can get on film. If it's necessary to have someone on your own team film certain challenges be sure to rotate who that person is so that everyone is actively involved in completing challenges throughout the adventure.

#1: Yesterday marked VJ Day, honoring the end of World War II. Anywhere around the area find an active military person or veteran. Then take a video of them watching your entire team doing 10 push-ups or sit-ups at their feet to honor their strength and courage. After you’ve finished recording, spend a few minutes learning more about their time in the service before you depart, as a small gesture of appreciation.

#2: At any point throughout this adventure take a well-timed picture of your team while the Rainforest Cafe volcano is actively “erupting” in the background. To successfully complete this challenge your picture must include actual flames coming out of the volcano, not just steam, so timing is everything. And although Marines never waver in dangerous situations, feel free to have your team all posing/reacting totally panicked with the volcano erupting behind you to create a memorable picture.

#3: Get your team to the circular in-ground fountain (splash pad) located just East of the “Earl of Sandwich” restaurant. While this challenge is being completed all team members need to be in the center of the splash pad. Once everyone is in the fountain, take a video of any two team members successfully completing the “Bottle Flip Challenge” at exactly the same time. Basically, take a video of both members each flipping their own standard (16 ounces or so) bottle of water onto the ground, and getting it to successfully remain standing upright once it lands. The bottle can be filled with as much water as needed to improve your chances of completing the challenge successfully. What will make this challenge difficult (besides getting randomly blasted by the fountain) is getting both people to make a successful flip on the same attempt. If one of you fails, encourage them and both try again. To watch a video of two people successfully completing this challenge together click HERE.

#4: Located somewhere around Disney Springs is a larger than life character you’ll need to find. To give you a hint, a cropped picture of their face can be seen HERE. Once you find them, have your team members all pose like them and take a memorable team picture with that secret character.

#5: Get to any grassy surface and take a video of your team all completing the Group Sit & Stand Challenge. All team members should have their eyes closed and remain completely silent throughout the entire challenge. Although, if you asked a kind stranger to film your group then one of your team members can keep their eyes open to make sure your device is safe. Have all team members, with their eyes closed, spin around 5 times. Then, while remaining silent with eyes closed, work together to get yourselves into a tight clump/circle, standing shoulder to shoulder with your backs all facing in and your arms interlocked. Slowly lower the entire interlocked group to the ground until you are in a seated position with your butt on the ground, and then slowly stand back up while remaining interlocked. To watch a video of a group successfully completing this challenge with their eyes open click HERE.

#6: Take a video of your team successfully completing the Whipped Cream Catapult Challenge. There are two options for completing this depending on your Covid comfort level with the other members of your team. Option #1 is to divide your team into pairs. Have someone squirt a dollop (small lump) of whipped cream onto the back of their hand. Have the other person stand a few feet away from them ready to catch the whipped cream in their mouth. The person with the whipped cream on their hand will swing their arm back, palm down. When that hand gets back in front of them at about waist height, they’ll strike their wrist with their other free hand, causing the whipped cream to go flying. The second person should successfully catch the whipped cream in their mouth, or at least catch some of it in their mouth and the rest on their face. For this option, at least half your team should make a successful catch in the video. For Option #2 each team member will put the whipped cream on the back of their own hand and fling it up to themselves, at least 3 feet above their head. For this option everyone on the team would need to make a successful catch in the video. To understand the challenge better and to watch a video of a team successfully completing it click HERE.

#7: Anywhere around the area take a team picture with any public digital clock (not a cell phone or personal watch) when the digits add up to 12. For example, 11:46am would be acceptable because 1+1+4+6=12. Similarly, 5:07pm would also be acceptable, or any other time where the sum of the individual digits equals 12.

#8: As Marines you have likely used Scotch Tape for just about everything. Well, except this. To honor this incredibly versatile American-made product take a fun team picture after everyone uses Scotch tape to stretch and distort their faces. For some inspiration click HERE.

#9: On any soft surface take a video of any ONE team member successfully completing the Knee Dip Challenge. Basically, while standing, bend one leg behind you and hold onto your ankle. Then carefully lower yourself to the ground so that your bent knee touches the ground and then stand back up to a standing position without letting go of your ankle, falling over, or allowing any other body part to touch the ground other than the knee on the bent leg you're holding. All team members can attempt the challenge but only one needs to complete it. To watch a video of someone successfully completing this challenge click HERE.

#10: On a mobile device have any one team member successfully use the stopwatch function to get the timer to stop at exactly 5 seconds. Once they’ve got it, have someone take their picture as they proudly display their device with 5.00 seconds clearly visible. This should be done using the stopwatch function and not the countdown/timer clock. Everyone can be attempting the challenge but only one member needs to complete it successfully.

#11: Take a video of your team and any stranger that has a tattoo while they explain what that tattoo means to them. The tattoo must be visible at some point during the video.

#12: Get to any clothing or apparel store and find two different items with enough in stock that every team member can be wearing the same two items in their own sizes. Then take a fun team picture with everyone wearing those items. For example it may be a wacky shirt, and a pair of shorts. Or maybe some cozy slippers and a large sun hat. As long as everyone is wearing the same exact two items but in their own sizes.

#13: This challenge will require you to take one video and one picture. Find anyone not from your group whose name could commonly be shortened to “Jack”. Acceptable names include Jack, John (any spelling), James, or Jacob. Once you’ve found him take a video of your team and “Jack” all doing 10 jumping jacks together. Then also take a close up picture of “Jack’s” ID to prove that his given name is one of the accepted ones above. He can cover his personal information as long as the picture shows his name.

#14: Take a video of your team completing the "Paper Airplane Challenge". Basically send some team members to the 2nd level of any building or parking garage and have them toss paper airplanes out into the air in front of them (not just dropping it straight downward). The rest of your team should be on the sidewalk or grass below. Any of your team members at ground level needs to catch just one plane before it hits the ground. All team members at ground level can be attempting to catch planes, but only one plane needs to be caught. To watch a team complete this mission successfully click HERE.

#15: Find any child (or adult) around the area wearing Disney princess apparel. A strong Disney female character who is not actually a princess would also be acceptable. This could be either an actual costume, or some kind of apparel with the image of an actual princess/female character on it. Once found, take a video of your team singing them a portion of a song from the Disney movie their character is from, or having them sing a portion of a song to your team.

#16: Take a video of at least half the members on your team completing the "Bite The Bag" challenge. Stand on one leg, bend down and grab a brown paper bag (or similar sized bag) with your teeth and lift it up as you stand back up on one foot. Must remain on one foot the entire time and can not use your arms, hold onto anything, or bump into anything else. To watch a video of someone successfully completing this challenge click HERE.

#17: Being a Marine, especially during these dangerous times, requires incredible focus. Click HERE to complete the Concentration Challenge. If you can’t access it via the link simply type “Telegraph Brain Age Test” into any browser and it should be at the top of the results. Once there, select the option for “Concentration” and get ready to begin the test. You will see a series of shapes. The goal is to decide whether the word inside the shape matches the color of the shape. If it does, click the check mark. If it doesn’t click on the X. Your score will be based on speed and accuracy. To complete this challenge successfully, any member of your team needs to score 27 or more points total on one test. Once someone has achieved an acceptable score, take a picture of the highly focused team member proudly displaying their score on their screen.

#18: Take a video of your team completing "Stop, Drop, and Roll" while any regulation/operable fire extinguisher is visible in the background. Be sure to yell each step of the fire safety technique as you all do it together and make sure the extinguisher is clearly visible at some point in your video.

#19: The NFL season is just a few weeks away from kicking off! To see whether you have the grit to make it as an NFL kicker and knock it through the uprights, create a regulation paper football using one sheet of paper. To learn how to make one you can click HERE. Once created, take a video of someone placing the football on a hard surface roughly waist high (a table works well). Then have them “flick” it up into the air and another person who is standing at least 6 feet away catches the flicked football in a standard drinking glass or plastic cup. To watch a video of two people successfully completing this challenge click HERE.

#20: Find any youth (or group of youth) around the area and take a video of them teaching your team members how to “Floss”. And no, it has nothing to do with your teeth.

#21: Take a picture of your team all holding themselves off the ground between any arched entryway. Everyone should have part of their body or limbs on at least one side of the arch and using the walls, or each other, to support their weight and remain off the ground. As opposed to just jumping in the air with a well timed picture between the arch.

#22: Take a team picture with any parked vehicle that has an out of state license plate and contains numerical digits that add up to 10, no more, no less. So if the plate were out of state and "CF2H 5K3" it would be acceptable because those numbers add up to 10 and there aren't any additional numbers.

#23: Find a postcard that features this area in some way or a greeting card designed by a local artist and purchase it. Then click HERE to go to the Postcard Happiness Project website and scroll down to the profile for John Craig, an adult with Downs Syndrome from Oregon that loves to receive mail. On your postcard include a fun or uplifting message and sign it with your names or your group name. The mailing address for John can be found in his profile description. Stamp your card and take a picture with it to show you've completed your Act Of Kindness.

#24: Go to the World of Coke rooftop bar and have each team member get a cup of just "Beverly", which is an Italian flavored soft drink Coke created. Start recording a video and then have all team members take a large gulp of the “popular” drink at exactly the same time.

* Please be aware that the World of Coke doesn’t open until 12pm so you’ll need to complete this challenge after that time.
