Team Building Adventure

Doylestown, PA

SCROLL DOWN TO START YOUR ADVENTURE

Here Are The Rules

  1. Complete as many challenges as you can within the given time frame. Challenges can be completed in any order.

  2. Team members need to stay together throughout the adventure, however, if you are all at the same location and searching for something you can spread out until it is found.

  3. Some challenges may require a few basic supplies to complete them. Figuring out how to obtain these supplies somewhere in the area is part of the experience.

  4. After completing each challenge click the “Connection Question”. Have at least one team member answer the question while you’re at the challenge location, or as you travel together to your next location. These answers don’t need to be submitted, they are simply meant to spark meaningful conversations within your own team. The more team members that talk about their answer, the more connected you’ll become. If you choose to just have one person answer per question create a rotation of who answers next so that everyone is sharing equally.

CHALLENGES

#1: Autumn is here in Doylestown and admiring the changing leaves also gives you a chance to reflect on what you as coaches can change in the coming year to help others in their fitness journey. Anywhere along the way gather red leaves and then once you’ve collected a significant amount, create the red “Summa” logo on a sidewalk in town using only the leaves (the bigger the better). Once completed, take a proud team picture with your naturally made logo.

Connection Question For Challenge #1

#2: Yesterday is considered by many to be the birthday of the United States Navy, based on a document presented to the Continent Congress on that date in 1775 that supported the purchase of a fleet of merchant ships to form an American colonial navy. Anywhere around the area find an active military person or a veteran (from any branch of the military). They could be wearing some form of military or veteran attire, have a military ID, or they could simply describe their military background while you’re completing your challenge. Once you’ve found someone, take a video of them watching your entire team doing 25 push-ups, sit-ups, or jumping jacks to honor their strength and courage. After you’ve finished recording, spend a few minutes learning more about their time in the service before you depart, as a small gesture of appreciation.

Connection Question For Challenge #2

#3: Take a video of your team successfully completing the Whipped Cream Catapult Challenge. Divide your team into pairs. Have one person from the pair squirt a small lump of whipped cream onto the back of their hand. That person should launch the whipped cream to their partner using the “arm catapult” technique seen in the video HERE. The second person should successfully catch the whipped cream in their mouth, or at least catch some of it in their mouth and the rest on their face. To complete this challenge at least half your team should make a successful catch in the video.

Connection Question For Challenge #3

#4: Anywhere around the area, find an establishment that has an animal in it's name and take a fun team picture with everyone posing or acting like that specific animal while the establishment’s signage is clearly visible in the background. Please note you’re looking for a place with the animal in it’s actual name such as "The Friendly Giraffe" and not a place that lists an animal as something that is served there such as "Hattie B's Hot Chicken".

Connection Question For Challenge #4

#5: Since Halloween is only a few days away, this challenge will get your team into the spirit. Wrap any one member of your team from head to toe in toilet paper (or multiple team members if they want to get in on the fun) leaving as few gaps as possible except around their nose/mouth so they can breathe easily. Then take a fun team picture with your new "mummy” team member!

Connection Question For Challenge #5

#6: During the Civil War, over 1,000 men from Bucks County, PA joined what would be known as the 104th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment. The soldiers received training at Camp Lacey here in Doylestown and saw action along the East Coast. Get your team to either the historical marker designating the location of Camp Lacey, or visit the Bucks County Civil War Museum. Once you’re at one of these two locations, designate one of your teammates as an “injured soldier”. Then take a picture demonstrating the “correct way to carry an injured soldier”, as referenced in the picture found HERE by soldiers from the 1800’s. If the museum is open and you go inside to complete your challenge, make sure to spend a few minutes learning about Doylestown’s role in the Civil War before heading out.

Connection Question For Challenge #6

#7: Get every team member a large (16 ounces or so) open-top paper, plastic, or foam cup and fill it with water. Then somewhere outdoors, line up shoulder to shoulder and have each team member balance a full cup on their head. Once everyone’s cups are balanced, hold hands with the team members on either side of you and take a video of your team working together to all take 10 steps forward without anyone touching their own cup (or another team member’s cup) or having it spill. If someone’s cup spills make sure to encourage them and then refill any spilled cups and start again as a team. After your team successfully travels 10 steps together dump the cups to prove they were full, and celebrate!

Connection Question For Challenge #7

#8: Find a postcard that features this area in some way, or a fun greeting card, and purchase it. Then click HERE to go to the Love For Our Elders project, which is focused on fighting loneliness with love, one letter at a time. As a team, choose someone from their list whose story or background resonates with you. Then on your card include a fun or uplifting message and sign it. Take a picture with it to show you've completed your Act Of Kindness and then at some point along the way or after your event ends stamp it and drop it in the mail.

Connection Question For Challenge #8

#9: Research shows that consuming raw garlic can boost your immune system, which is especially important for those coaching others on how to lead a healthier life. So take a video of all your team members each chewing a separate raw clove of garlic for at least 15 full seconds. Team members should be actively chewing the clove and not just holding it in their mouths. Disclaimer, although healthy this will likely not be pleasant, which is exactly the point. Because a team that suffers together, grows together.

Connection Question For Challenge #9

#10: Today is National First Responders Day, which recognizes the heroic men and women who make it their business to take immediate action when disaster strikes. To honor the brave firefighters that protect this community, take a video of your team completing "Stop, Drop, and Roll" while any regulation/operable fire extinguisher is visible in the background, or you are standing in front of an actual fire station. Be sure to yell each step of the fire safety technique as you all do it together and make sure the fire extinguisher or fire station is clearly visible at some point in your video.

Connection Question For Challenge #10

#11: The Eagles are currently the best team in the NFL and expectations are high for another season that ends with a Super Bowl ring! Anywhere around town find a logo of the Eagles proudly being displayed, worn, flown, etc. Then take a video of your group pretending to spike an imaginary football and immediately breaking into your very best celebratory touchdown dance while the logo is clearly visible in the background. If you need some inspiration for your performance you can click HERE.

Connection Question For Challenge #11

#12: As we approach the end of the calendar year it’s important to remember to work together as a group, communicate efficiently, persevere through challenges, and finish strong. That same mindset will help you successfully complete this challenge. Get to any intersection with a traffic light. Have someone take a video of your team as everyone is standing shoulder to shoulder in a tight clump/circle with your backs all facing in and your arms interlocked. When the light turns green slowly lower the entire interlocked group to the ground until you are in a seated position with your butts on the ground. Then work together to slowly stand all the way back up while remaining interlocked the entire time. To successfully complete the challenge your entire interlocked team needs to be standing up again before the traffic light in the background changes to red. To watch a video of a group successfully completing this challenge click HERE.

Connection Question For Challenge #12

#13: Doylestown is home to some amazing musicians (such as Pink), and legendary music (like the tunes created by Rogers & Hammerstein). And fans from this area never hesitate to support the artists they love. This challenge will help you continue to “get behind” some iconic musicians, literally. Get your team to any record store that sells vinyl records and take a fun picture creating “SleeveFace” illusions with any album sleeves that are conducive for creating this effect. To learn what a SleeveFace illusion is and to see some examples click HERE.

Connection Question For Challenge #13

#14: Looking and feeling younger is one of the many natural benefits of CrossFit. To demonstrate just how tight and youthful your appearance can become with the right fitness program, take a fun team picture after everyone uses Scotch tape to dramatically stretch and distort their faces. To create the proper “I’m still 39" look, you’ll need at least 5 pieces of tape per face, although the more the better! For some inspiration click HERE.

Connection Question For Challenge #14

#15: October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To honor those, and their families, who are impacted by this disease, take a proud team picture showing off your hands once every member of your team has gotten their fingernails painted bright pink (the international color for breast cancer awareness) using real nail polish. For every team that completes this challenge successfully and emails us the photo proof, our company (Team Building Anywhere) will be donating $25 to help fight Breast Cancer!
